Strengthen safe water approach and save for the villagers, yen son commune, Ha Trung District, Thanh Hoa

Access to clean water is fundamental to human rights”. This is the goal of the United Nations Council and is also the goal of every country in which Vietnam is available. Access to the water supply from the water supply plants is the most preferred measure and a long-term solution. However, with the needs of people requesting access to clean water treatment on site and by the Democratic People, the project “Local activities in Vietnam for environmental health”, funded by the U.S. International Development Agency (USAID) and the National Institute of Population, Health and development (PHAD) to implement , has coordinated the local departments and the villagers of Yen son, Ha Trung District, Thanh Chemical province to build 04 clean water supply system from the beginning of 2019, supplying clean water for pre-school, primary and secondary schools and 1 clean water supply system for households belonging to the cluster of five rural bridges. The clean water supply system of Ha Lam Elementary School, pre-kindergarten Ha Lam District B and 5 residential clusters are water at depths of 90 meters or more, through water resources testing, good quality ensuring the handling and supply of clean water to the people. Water source drilling is handled by the filtration device based on mechanical energy by the flow of water, creating pressure dispersion of small water particles exposed to oxygen organic contaminants are defiled by oxidation, heavy metals under the centrifugal force that flow from the water particles, the quality of the post-treatment water is equivalent to water quality from the water supply plant and meet the regulatory standards of the Ministry of Health (QCVN 01:2009/BYT). This technology is especially not used in chemicals, not replacing filter cores should retain the necessary minerals for the body, limit power, save maximum operating costs and maintenance, the period of use for 20 years or more. At the clean water supply system, the management of the people of the school is established with the task of managing operations and maintenance, self-determination price on the principle of compensating costs including management, operation and storage and accumulation to ensure sustainability. Currently in the process of operating the test, the management of Clean water supply system (HTCNS) cluster 5 is testing to calculate the system’s power consumption on 1 cubic meter of water with two time frames including 2 stages:
  • Test Phase 1 time pump water supply from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Phase 2: The water pump time is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the day. For the prevention of water shortage due to power loss as well as having enough regular water for his family, the management recommends families in the village should have a sanitary water storage tank, water storage at least 3 to 5 days.
The trial lasted from month 09/2019 to January 07/2020. After the end of the test, the clean water supply system will be handed over to the PPC, the HTCNS Management board to operate and use efficiently and sustainably.
