Conference "Safety Water Supply plan of Ha Nam Province – results and orientation of operation"

On the morning of 14/11/2019, the Institute for Population, Health and development (PHAD) has collaborated with the Department of construction of Ha Nam Province and related departments to organize the conference “Safety Water supply plan of Henan Province – results and orientation of operation”. This activity is within the framework of the “local Vietnamese activities for environmental health” project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Conference with the participation of local departments ‘ agencies involved in safe water supply (CNAT) and water supply units, was organized with the goal of updating the results of the province’s CNAT plan implementation in the past time and discussing the orientation and plan to implement the provincial CNAT plan in the next period.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy director of the Department of Construction of Do Quang Nha said: “The conference is an opportunity for companies, water supply units in the province to share the situation, wishes and needs of its technical support related to the problem of CNAT. At the same time, hope can listen to the ideas of sharing useful of other agencies to be able to improve, upgrade the next activities related to the province’s CNAT plan. “

Reporting on the status of Clean water of the province, Mr. Nha said: There are 41 water plants in the province that provide sufficient living water for 95/105 wards/communes. The water supply rate from the water plant reaches 67% of which the metropolitan area reaches a ratio of 78%, the rural area reaches a rate of 61%. However, the quality of water remains unstable because of the polluted river water resources in Henan, many factories still use the technology of backward, the management has many weaknesses.

In order to resolve the situation above, the project has counsels with the Department of Construction of the PPC petition to establish the Steering Committee for CNAT Planning and construction, to issue technical regulations on clean water quality used for the purpose of living in accordance to the basis of inspection and control of the water quality of the province.

The conference was also heard by representatives of the technical infrastructure – the Ministry of Construction shared on the implementation of the national program to ensure the CNAT and the ideas of explanations and comments of the departments, the other water supply units in the construction and completion of the provincial plan for the province.
