On 18/09/2019, the annual seminar of social organizations in 2019 with the theme: “Promoting the role and initiative of the social organization in public health care” was held in Hanoi by the Union of Vietnam Science and Technology Association (VUSTA) chailed. The seminar was funded by Bread for the world and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Participating in workshops, there are domestic and foreign organizations operating in the field of public health, including: Non-governmental organization Information Center (NGO-IC), Institute of Population, Health and development (PHAD), Light Community Health Development Institute (LIGHT), Center for Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) , The Center for Training and Community Development Studies (RTCCD), the Center for Living and learning because of the environment and the community (LIVE & LEARN), the Center for improving the Quality of life (LIFE).
The seminar was held with 1 whole session and 3 parallel sessions. In it, the Institute of Population, Health and Development (PHAD) participated in the “Session 2: Environmental Health”. In this session, representatives of the VIWHA Coalition members discussed and unified initiates the “school drinking water Initiative-SDWI” initiative program in 2019-2022 with a common goal to mobilize resources and local initiatives to “strengthen access to clean water, drinking water in a sustainable way for disadvantaged students , ethnic minorities “, especially those that do not have access to centralized clean water.
The initiative has received the interest of numerous organizations present at the Seminar in general and the members of VIWHA in particular. At the seminar, the Center for Consultation and support of the French Community is protected by the great Germans who liked the representatives who responded and started the initiative through a donation program of 03 water purifiers and other necessities for 100 students at 03 schools in the Scouting district, Quang Tri Province. This is a great startup initiative and also a first step in the development of the “School Drinking Water” program later on.
The annual seminar of Social organizations is held annually by the Union of Vietnam Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA).
