Coordinate with Ha Nam province to develop the Provincial Safe Water Plan 2019 and orientation for 2025

On 14/03/2019, the Institute for Population, Health and development in collaboration with the Steering Committee for Safe Water (CNAT) Ha Nam Province held the conference on the Status of safe water supply of the province. This activity is within the framework of the project “Local Vietnamese activities for environmental health” – Local Works, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with the goal of supporting the same ha Nam province to build a framework of planning and coordinating the implementation of the Safety Water Supply plan (KH-CNAT) in the province in 2019 and orientation in the next period of operation.

The Conference was attended by the member of HA NAM Steering Committee, the Rural and urban water supply units in the province and experts in the field of safe water supply.

At the seminar, the issues discussed were focused on the status of water as well as the status of the implementation of the KH-CNAT in the province in the last time. The participating water supply units have also been discussed, exchanged, and shared many information relating to the preparatory pathway, construction and submission to the provincial Steering Committee for approval.

Mr. Pham Van Khoi – Director of Ha Nam Clean water plant said that now the water source in Ha Nam many places are in severe pollution, some areas can not be used to handle the supply of living water for people. The solution used at the present time is to lead the water from the Red River to the processing plant to ensure the quality of input. Mr. Khoi and many other private water supply participants in the Conference shared the proposal, soon to issue the plan for the Water safety of the province so that the water plants can implement the proper process and operational norms; Early application of technical standards on water in 2018 for all units in the province to ensure uniform quality.

The implementation of the provincial CNAT plan not only helps water supply units with unified text on the operation process, ensuring clean water supply, safe water supply to the people that this plan contributes not small to reducing the rate of water loss, water quality is improved, people benefit much from the management.

The conference is within the 2-year operation plan of 2018 – 2019 of the project “Local Vietnamese activities for environmental health” – Local Works, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), by the Institute of Population, Health and development. Proposals, suggestions of units participating in the Conference will be the basis of the Steering Committee of the Safe water level assessment and set out directions, plans to promote the process of developing safety water supply plan and the PPC program to approve the earliest time.
